Archaeologists selected to carry out surveys ahead of the construction of roads around the CPK airport
As part of the Port Polska investment programme, the most advantageous bid has been selected for the execution of archaeological excavation works connected with the construction of the road network around the airport. Six bidders took part in the tender procedure.

Centralny Port Komunikacyjny, the company responsible for delivering the strategic Port Polska investments, selected the bid submitted by a consortium led by Przemysław Wierzbicki Pracownia Archeologiczno-Konserwatorska Archeoplan. The consortium also includes Archeologiczny Serwis Konsultacyjno-Badawczy Mirosław Kuś.
The purpose of the planned works is to protect archaeological heritage in connection with the planned investment project in areas where archaeological sites are located. Decisions issued by the Mazovian Voivodeship Heritage Conservator identified 18 sites where archaeological excavations must be carried out prior to works associated with the planned construction of the road network around the airport.
The total area of the archaeological sites designated for preliminary excavation works amounts to approximately 1,540 ares.
Fieldwork is expected to last one year, after which archaeologists will spend a further 12 months analysing and preparing the results of the surveys.
Port Polska is a strategic investment programme carried out by the Centralny Port Komunikacyjny, aimed at creating a modern transportation system that efficiently integrates air, rail, and road transport. As part of the Port Polska Programme, a new state-of-the-art airport will be built between Warsaw and Łódź, along with a high-speed rail network. The new airport will be designed to serve between 34 and 44 million passengers annually in its initial years of operation, with plans for flexible expansion in the long term according to market needs and growth forecasts.
