SIM Factor simulators for Romania launched at CFR Călători
SIM Factor has completed the delivery and commissioning of two locomotive simulators for the Romanian operator CFR Călători. The project included full-cab simulators mounted on 6-degree-of-freedom motion platforms, together with instructor stations.

Polish railway simulator manufacturer SIM Factor has successfully completed the delivery of two multifunctional locomotive simulators equipped with the ETCS system for the Romanian state railway operator CFR Călători. The contract, worth approximately PLN 6.2 million net, was signed in April 2025 and was originally scheduled for completion by June 2026. Thanks to the efficient coordination of design, production and logistics work, the simulators were handed over for use already in April 2026.
SIM Factor simulators for CFR Călători enable realistic reproduction of driving across 170 km of routes, including shunting operations and emergency situations, supporting the process of driver certification, training and assessment. Thanks to the integration of the ETCS system and the ability to recreate failures and other unexpected events, the simulators will help improve safety and operational efficiency of rolling stock on the Romanian railway network.
Thanks to the use of modular driver desks, the simulators can reproduce a total of four vehicle types, including Pesa electric multiple units, as Pesa is currently implementing a contract in Romania for the delivery of 655-5 type trains.
“The successful completion of this project is the result of the commitment of the entire SIM Factor team and the flexibility of our production processes. The delivery of these simulators will allow the Romanian operator to benefit from advanced opportunities to improve driver qualifications and, as a result, increase operational readiness,” said Michał Wierzbicki, President of the Management Board of SIM Factor S.A.
The delivery for CFR Călători is SIM Factor’s first order in Romania and strengthens the company’s position as a leader in modern simulation solutions in the Central and Eastern European region.
