METRANS launched a rail connection between Poland and Slovakia
The first train on new direct rail link between Poland and Slovakia is already moving. On 13 April 2026, the first train departed on new connection between Dąbrowa Górnicza (PL) and Žilina (SK)

What does this mean in practice?
- Faster and more efficient access from Poland to Slovakia
- Stronger support for the Gdańsk, but also Koper and Istanbul corridors
- Fast reach to key hubs like Žilina, Košice and Dunajská Streda
- Smooth flows from Hungary, Romania into Poland
The service is currently running twice a week – with flexibility to scale as demand grows. Another step towards more connected and resilient rail logistics in Central Europe
