From January 2023 the Duisburg Intermodal Terminal (DIT) is also offering a rail connection to the North. Starting on 16 January 2023, the Duisburg Wilhelmshaven Shuttle will run between Duisburg Intermodal Terminal and Wilhelmshaven, initially with one round trip per week. In the 2nd quarter of 2023 it is planned to step up the frequency to 2 round trips weekly.

The first block train will leave Wilhelmshaven on the evening of 15 January 2023, reaching Duisburg Intermodal Terminal on the morning of 16 January. The product can be booked now at DIT Duisburg Intermodal Terminal. “An especially interesting feature of this new rail product is the short transit time between the seaport of Wilhelmshaven and DIT” says Andreas Mager, Managing Director Contargo Rail Services GmbH.

An advantage of the terminal in Europe’s biggest inland port: DIT offers gateway connections to and from Austria, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Belgium and the Netherlands; containers can be brought to their destination in on-carriage by barge or truck.

“The JadeWeserPort in Wilhelmshaven is playing an increasingly important role as a deep water port in Europe. Thus we are very pleased to be able to offer our customers a new rail product, starting from January – and also to be extending our network to include an additional seaport”, says Bernd Putens, Managing Director DIT Duisburg Intermodal Terminal GmbH.
