Boosting ocean freight in Poland: CEVA Logistics opens office in Gdynia
CEVA Logistics, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group that is focused on supply chain solutions, has inaugurated a new office in Poland. Being located in the port city of Gdynia, it will be dedicated to developing ocean freight services in the Polish market. The new branch of CEVA Logistics will also provide shortsea shipments between Poland and the United Kingdom.
For many years, CEVA Logistics has been working in Poland by developing contract logistics. This resulted in a well-developed network of 30 dedicated locations, including major sites in Wrocław, Poznań and Piła. Now, the French company decided to pay more attention to ocean freight and opened a new office in Gdynia in late June 2022. “The new freight management office in Gdynia is home to members of the company’s Ocean freight and Industrial Projects and Energy Services (IP&ES) teams,” CEVA Logistics stated. Its new branch in Poland will provide a wide range of ocean freight services from less-than-container and full container loads (LCL and FCL) to break bulk and project cargo logistics.
Global network
The Gdynia office of CEVA Logistics is connected to an extensive global logistics network of 1,000 locations and 10,000 port-pairs, including direct LCL connections from the Polish ports of Gdynia and Gdańsk to Europe, North America and Asia Pacific. “One of the top connections for CEVA’s LCL service in Gdynia is the U.S., and the company has already started weekly services from Chicago to Gdynia, including pick-up services from anywhere in the U.S.,” the logistics provider noted.
Shortsea service
Besides ocean freight, CEVA also offers a shortsea shipping service, which is named CEVA Greenroute due to its environmental feature. The weekly maritime connection between Gdynia and Tilbury in the UK is provided by LNG-powered container vessels of Containerships, another subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group. In addition to the direct Poland-Britain deliveries, the logistics specialist arranges shipments to and from other countries of Central Eastern Europe such as Czechia or Slovakia. “The shipments are consolidated in the Port of Gdynia, and CEVA handles the delivery process, including customs clearance on both sides,” the French company added.
