Metrans digitises truck traffic at intermodal terminals
Metrans, a rail freight subsidiary of HHLA, is moving further in digitising operations at its intermodal terminals in Central Europe. In 2021 the Czech company implemented the dedicated application for reserving trucks at its key facilities. The solution was deployed at the Metrans hubs in Czechia and Slovakia. Hungary will soon join this list.
In August 2021, Metrans launched the MTrucks digital solution for booking trucks at its intermodal terminals. The application was successfully implemented at three company’s hubs: Prague and Česká Třebová in Czechia as well as Dunajská Streda in Slovakia. The Budapest-Csepel Container Terminal in Hungary will become the fourth hub facility in the Metrans’ network to be connected to the application.
“This will reduce the waiting time, thus providing our partners with the most efficient and smooth way to deliver and pick up containers at the terminal. The launch of this new online system is expected in the summer of 2022,” Metrans stated. The more detailed information will be reported later to all the company’s customers that use the intermodal terminal in Budapest.
MTrucks application
According to Metrans, the MTrucks application is available via a mobile phone, where the driver will be able to select the exact time window. The solution can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. It was developed for internal use of truck container tracking. It enables real monitoring of the container transport via GPS traffic tracking, loading and unloading load management as well as real-time communication with the Dispatcher module.
