More parking lots for trucks in Port of Świnoujście
A new parking area for trucks has been constructed in the Port of Świnoujście. The facility will be an additional driving force for boosting ro-ro freight between Poland and Sweden. Moreover, the project will contribute to decongesting the road traffic in Świnoujście.
The newly built parking area in the Port of Świnoujście has been functioning since mid-January 2022. It has 278 parking spaces for trucks. Besides the connection to the water, sewage, electricity and telecommunication networks, the facility has a signalling system, road markings, lighting, sanitary and waste recycling installations. The project was co-financed from the EU funds, it was implemented by the Polish company PRO-TRA BUILDING from Wroclaw for 30 million zloty (around 6.6 million euros).
Ferries to/from Sweden
The new parking area is located in the immediate vicinity of the Świnoujście ferry terminal. It was designed mainly for trucks travelling to Sweden by ferries. Currently, the Polish port has two ro-ro connections to the Scandinavian country, to Trelleborg and Ystad. As the truck traffic is gradually growing on the mentioned lines, more parking lots were needed in the port. Furthermore, the investment will also improve the city traffic in Świnoujście.
