Kögel upgrades semi-trailers for moving tank containers
Kögel Trailer, the German manufacturer of semi-trailers, has improved its product range for moving tank containers. The Kögel Tankplex vehicle was equipped with an upgraded chassis that provides much better load distribution and enables safe driving behaviour even in difficult road conditions. Furthermore, the improved semi-trailer is lightweight and durable.
Kögel Trailer installed cross beams on the chassis of the Kögel Tankplex semi-trailers by placing them 300 millimetres forward. This provides much better load distribution as well as better traction and safe driving in difficult road conditions. The Kögel Tankplex vehicle is dedicated to transporting several types of intermodal freight: 20-foot tank containers, 20-foot ISO containers, swap bodies with a total length of up to 7.82 metres as well as 23-foot and 25-foot tank containers.
Hazardous goods
As the new semi-trailer was developed for moving the hazardous goods classes EX/II, EX/III, FL, OX and AT, its chassis has ADR-compliant safety equipment including a fire extinguisher, a warning panel and a stainless-steel earthing lug. Kögel Trailer also installed a stainless-steel discharge trough and plastic hose pipes laid in the frame for protection, as well as a removable work platform. Another advantage of the product is the improved accessibility at the rear, which is important when moving swap bodies. Moreover, the manufacturer equipped the vehicle with a new rear underride guard that can absorb twice the forces in the event of a collision.
