Lithuanian road haulage company Girteka, which owns the largest truck fleet in Europe, is strengthening its presence in Poland. After opening its first base in this country two years ago, it has established a second camp in the vicinity of Poznań. The new facility will become the company’s largest base. To this end, Girteka will hire over 5,000 employees, mostly truckers.

Girteka’s new base in Poland is located in Sady, close to the city of Poznań. At least 2,000 heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) will be placed there. In 2022 the Lithuanian haulier is planning to recruit more than 5,000 new employees, mostly truck drivers. Within the five-year period, the company will invest at least 5 million euros to equip and maintain its new facility in Poland. “The new transport base will also allow us to cut carbon emissions of ours and contribute to road safety since in a long run we will significantly cut “empty kilometres”,” said Mindaugas Paulauskas, CEO of Girteka Transport.

Complex facility

The new transport base of Girteka in Sady was opened in line with its strategy to become one of the top ten largest logistics companies in Europe by 2026. It is placed in the building, which was originally built to make new buses by MAN. The Sady site will be the largest company’s facility, even larger than its bases in the home market in Lithuania. According to Girteka, the drivers will be offered a wide range of services including a separate bank, hairdresser, medical office, showers, and others.
