VTG increases fleet of flat wagons in Russia
VTG, Europe’s leading wagon leasing company, will boost its operations in Russia. To this end, it ordered a new major batch of 250 flat wagons. The new vehicles will be supplied by Transmashholding, the largest rolling stock manufacturer in Russia.
The first of the purchased flat wagons will be delivered to VTG Rail Russia, a Russian subsidiary of the German lessor, by the year’s end. According to the agreement, the entire order will be fulfilled in early 2022. As a result, VTG’s fleet of flat wagons in Russia will increase up to 689 units. The vehicles will be manufactured by Transmash, a dedicated subsidiary of Transmashholding.

VTG and Transmach started to cooperate in 2019. Since that time, VTG Rail Russia has acquired 439 flat wagons from Transmash including pocket wagons that are dedicated to combined transport and innovative for the Russian rail freight market. The new order of VTG comprises the delivery of the vehicles of type 13-9744-06 with a loading capacity of 73 tonnes and an axle load of 23.5 tonnes. Transmash developed this type of flat wagons as ideal for moving high-capacity containers and tank containers with a tare weight of up to 36 tonnes.
