Kombiverkehr boosts Benelux-Italy intermodal service
German intermodal operator Kombiverkehr is continuing to develop its connections between Italy and the Benelux. Starting from early September, the company will gradually increase the frequency of its trains from Mortara to Rotterdam and Ghent. Moreover, it will add a new destination in the Netherlands within the mentioned service.
Kombiverkehr has arranged several improvements on its Italy – Benelux intermodal service for the forthcoming autumn and winter. It will launch the additional connections on the Mortara – Rotterdam (including the link to the German hub of Krefeld) and Mortara – Ghent routes. As a result, the number of weekly trains on the mentioned lines will increase up to five and six. Starting from January 2022, the trains towards Belgium will depart eight times a week. All the connections are provided together with BLS Cargo, SBB Cargo and Captrain Italia.
New destination
Besides the increased frequency, Kombiverkehr will add another new option for the customers. In September, the German intermodal operator will start the new connection between Mortara and the Dutch border city of Venlo. Its trains will run to the Cabooter Railterminal in Greenport Venlo five times a week. “With the addition of the Cabooter Terminal in Greenport Venlo, we are also gaining access to one of the strongest business and logistics locations in the Netherlands with an excellent multimodal transport infrastructure that is in very high demand from customers,” said Peter Dannewitz, head of sales at Kombiverkehr.
