DB Schenker intensifies road freight between Poland and Italy
German logistics provider DB Schenker has been running a new groupage connection between Poland and Italy. It provides a reliable freight delivery in 20 hours from Kraków to Bologna and back. The road freight service could be used for moving goods to Naples and Malta.
DB Schenker provides the Poland – Italy LTL service five times a week. In Poland, the company’s trucks depart from its newest terminal Kraków, which was opened in March. The logistics provider guarantees the transit time between Kraków and Bologna of only 20 hours. Among the most popular goods to move the new connection are metals, electronic and optical products, electromechanical products, textile materials, products of the finishing industry and foodstuffs. Besides Bologna, the Polish goods could be also moved further southwards, to Naples and via the ferry line even to the island of Malta.
Mutual trade
The new groupage service was launched by DB Schenker due to the growing demand for the exchange of goods between Poland and Italy. According to the latest statistics from the Polish Central Statistical Office, the trade exchange with Italy in the first three months of 2021 showed exports of goods from Poland at 3.3 billion euros (an increase by 24.9 per cent), the same amount was registered for imports from Italy (with an increase by 9.6 per cent). This means a perfect balance between export and import.
