Hellmann Logistics and DRONAMICS to revolutionise delivery of time-critical goods in Europe
Two Germany-based companies, Hellman Logistics and DRONAMICS, have established a partnership to revolutionise the European logistics industry, especially in delivering time-critical freight. In 2022 they will launch the first commercial flights of unmanned aerial vehicles at a range of up to 2,500 kilometres.
Hellman Logistics, a German logistics provider, and DRONAMICS, a major middle-mile cargo drone developer, will jointly develop a pioneering new transport service for the cross-border transport of time-critical goods. To this end, both companies established a partnership and intend to radically transform European logistics sector. Within the cooperation, Hellman Logistics is planning to start the first commercial shipments with unmanned cargo drones in 2022.
“Partnering with DRONAMICS allows us to provide our customers with innovative and tailored solutions especially in the growing market segments of spare parts, e-commerce, and cool chain. We believe this will be a game changer in logistics,” said Jan Kleine-Lasthues, Chief Operating Officer for Airfreight at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
Same-day delivery
DRONAMICS developed its cargo drone branded as the Black Swan. The air vehicle is very similar to a small aircraft but does not require humans to operate it. With a wingspan of 16 metres, the drone is able to transport up to 350 kilograms at a range of 2,500 kilometres. Such features allow the partners to establish a pan-European drone network to deliver time-critical goods within one day.
“We are extremely happy to have the opportunity to work with a leading logistics provider such as Hellmann, a company with a global network and a strategy to shape the supply chain of the future. Collaborating with freight forwarders is an essential part of our vision to make same-day deliveries a reality,” added Svilen Rangelov, CEO and Co-Founder of DRONAMICS.
