Russian Railways containerises dairy products for export to China
RZD Logistics, a dedicated subsidiary of the Russian Railways, has put into containers a new type of freight. Within the trial shipment, the company loaded dairy products into one 40-foot container for transporting by rail to the Chinese city of Chengdu. It is expected that the new service will become regular.
RZD Logistics dispatched Russian-made dairy products from the Moscow Region to Chengdu in China. The test shipment was organised for the Galaсtika Group, one of the largest Russian manufacturers of dairy products. The loaded 40-foot container was sent via the Selyatino (the Moscow region) – Khorgos – Xi’an route as a part of the express container train with further delivery by rail to Chengdu. This route is one of the most promising for organising shipments to the inner provinces of China. RZD Logistics provided export customs clearance and prepared documents for proceeding the veterinary control of the freight.
Agroexpress service
The test shipment of dairy products was arranged within the Agroexpress service that was implemented by RZD Logistics to export the goods of the Russian agricultural producers. In September 2019 the first Agroexpress delivered 41 containers loaded with wheat flour from the Vorsino station in the Kaluga region to the Chinese city of Tianjin. Since then, RZD Logistics has significantly expanded its service by adding new routes and applying contemporary transport solutions such as reefers and flexitanks. This allows offering customers a rail shipment of a wider range of goods and guaranteeing their safety during transportation.
Galaсtika Group
The Galaсtika Group is one of the 10 milk processors in Russia that were certified to export its dairy products to China. In 2020, the company quadrupled its export. Galaсtika has a strong market position in the Northwestern Federal District of Russia, processing more than 100,000 tonnes of milk a year.
