ONE defines four sustainability priorities
Ocean Network Express (ONE), the world’s sixth-largest container shipping line, will pay more attention to the decarbonisation of its operations. To this end, the company established a dedicated department that will work in accordance to four sustainability priorities.
A new Green Strategy Department has been functioned within the organisation structure of Japanese shipping line ONE since 1 April. The new division has personnel that includes dedicated and double-capped employees who are specialists in the relevant business areas. Their key task is to integrate sustainability into the company’s business strategy and objectives. Sustainability for ONE consists of four priorities: environment; social; governance and operational excellence.
The new division was established as a part of ONE’s decarbonisation policy. It will drive the company’s environmental sustainability endeavours through the close collaboration of various internal and external stakeholders, building better synergies together. The Green Strategy Department will be also responsible for designing and implementing environmentally-friendly strategies to meet the relevant industrial and international standards. In such a way, ONE will try to secure its position at the forefront of green thinking in the shipping and logistics industry as well as to finally become a lead player of the shipping industry in this area.
